Fitness holidays – how to find the right one

A fitness holiday is a holiday and a training camp in one: you train with coaches, eat well, rest properly and come home stronger. Here we explain how fitness holidays differ, what they cost and what to look for – and how our training weeks at Lost Villa in Croatia work.

What is a fitness holiday?

A holiday built around training

On a fitness holiday the training is planned for you. You join scheduled sessions with coaches, and the rest of the day is for recovery, good food and time with others who love to move.

Fitness holidays range from yoga and running to strength, Hyrox and functional training. Some are hotel packages where training is an add-on; others – like ours – are built entirely around the training and the community.

Types of fitness holidays

Which kind of fitness holiday suits you?

At Lost Villa we mix most of it – the coaches plan the week so every level gets a lot out of it.

  • Functional trainingVaried sessions of strength, conditioning and mobility – the core of our weeks.
  • Hyrox and conditioningIntervals, running and stations that build endurance.
  • Strength and weightliftingSquat, deadlift and Olympic lifting technique in an outdoor gym with Eleiko equipment.
  • Mobility and recoveryMobility sessions, swims in the sea and time to rest between sessions.
  • RunningCar-free coastal roads – perfect for a morning run.
  • All inclusiveAccommodation, all meals and transfer from Split are included – you just need to get there.

Price

What does a fitness holiday cost?

The price depends mostly on what’s included. Always check whether meals, transfers, accommodation and coaching are part of the package – a cheap deal can get expensive once meals are added.

A training week at Lost Villa costs €1,545 per person including accommodation, all meals, transfer from Split and coached training every day. Book early and save €180. You book your own flight – usually cheapest directly with the airline – and you only pay the deposit when booking, the rest closer to the trip.

Checklist

How to choose the right fitness holiday

Six questions to ask before you book.

  • What’s included?Meals, transfer, accommodation and all sessions – or are there lots of extras?
  • Does it suit your level?Good coaches scale every exercise so beginners and experienced athletes both get a great week.
  • How big are the groups?Smaller groups mean more coaching and it’s easier to get to know everyone.
  • What weather can you expect?Hvar is Croatia’s sunniest island – we go in May, June and September when it’s warm but not too hot.
  • Can you go alone? Many people travel solo – check how the accommodation works if you’re on your own.
  • What do previous guests say?Read reviews and travel stories before you decide.

Small on purpose

Big package holiday or small fitness holiday?

After the summer, one of the big package holiday companies sent out a press release: 2,000 participants in their training sessions during August 2026. We had 40 – and that’s exactly how we like it.

On a big package holiday, training is one activity among many. On a small fitness holiday, it’s the whole point: the same coach all week who knows your name by Sunday, sees your technique and knows when you need to push – or rest. And a group that feels like friends before the week is over.

Training for all levels at Lost Villa

For beginners

Fitness holidays for beginners

You don’t need to be super fit to join a fitness holiday. Our coaches adapt every exercise to you and find alternatives if you have injuries or niggles.

You decide how much you want to train – and many discover they can do more than they thought when the atmosphere is great and the sea is right there.

Solo or together

A solo fitness holiday – or with the whole crew

Many of our guests travel alone. You train, eat and hang out together all week, so it rarely takes more than a few minutes to make the first new friends. You share a bedroom with another guest of the same gender, or book your own bedroom for a supplement, subject to availability.

Coming with friends, your gym or your company? We arrange group trips too and can invoice companies.

Best time

When is the best time for a fitness holiday?

Early summer and early autumn are perfect for outdoor training in the Mediterranean: warm, sunny and great for swimming, without the peak summer heat. That’s why our weeks are in May, June, August and September.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions about fitness holidays

What is a fitness holiday?

A trip where the training is planned for you: scheduled sessions with coaches, and the rest of the time for recovery, good food and socialising. At Lost Villa, accommodation, all meals, transfer and coached training every day are included.

How much does a fitness holiday cost?

A week at Lost Villa costs €1,545 per person including accommodation, all meals, transfer from Split and training. Book early and save €180. You book your own flight.

What’s included in a week at Lost Villa?

Almost everything – you just need to get yourself to Split. This is included in the price:

  • Accommodation in an apartment a few metres from the sea, Saturday to Saturday.
  • Breakfast every day – make it yourself in your apartment, all ingredients are provided.
  • Lunch and dinner every day – well-cooked, nutritious food, with water, beer, wine and soft drinks with dinner.
  • The Fitness Bar every afternoon with fresh fruit, smoothies, homemade bars, snacks and drinks.
  • All training – coached sessions every day and free access to the outdoor gym by the sea.
  • Return transfer from Split Airport all the way to Lost Villa on the island of Hvar.
  • Everything else – the infinity pool, the sea, SUP boards, evening activities and a group of people you won’t want to leave.
What fitness level do I need?

None in particular. The weeks suit everyone – from beginners and regular exercisers to experienced athletes who want to push themselves hard. The coaches scale every exercise to you and find alternatives if you have injuries or niggles. You decide how much you want to train.

Can I travel on my own?

Absolutely – many of our guests travel alone, and the sense of community from day one is one of the best things about the week. It rarely takes more than a few minutes before the first new friends are made.

You share a bedroom with another guest of the same gender (separate beds). If you’d like your own bedroom, you can book one for a supplement, subject to availability.

Are flights included, and how does the transfer work?

You book your own flight to Split Airport (SPU). Once you land, we take care of the whole transfer by car and boat to Hvar. On your booking page you’ll find recommended flight times that fit our transfer departures. Read more about the transfer.

When is the best time for a fitness holiday in Croatia?

May, June and September: warm and sunny but not as hot as July. The sea is pleasant for swimming and the island is quieter than in peak season.
